Who is yoga teacher training designed for?
Yoga teacher training is designed for anyone who desires to deepen their understanding of yoga practices and philosophies and learn the fundamentals of teaching yoga to others.
Do I have to teach yoga once I complete a training?
Teaching is purely optional. Many students take training as a way to deepen their own personal practice.
What are the certification requirements?
To receive a yoga teacher training certification trainees must be fully present, complete all assignments, pass all tests and quizzes, and tuition must be paid in full.
What if I have a schedule conflict and can’t make it to training?
100% participation is required for all weekends but exceptions may be made for illnesses or extenuating life circumstances. Prior approval for missing a training day must be granted by the lead teacher trainer and missed hours can be made up either in a future training or one-on-one for an additional cost.
What is the difference between the three Jiivana Yoga® teacher training levels?
Our Level 1 Jiivana Yoga® teacher training is a 36-hour intensive training held over the course of two weekends. Upon the conclusion of the training, you will have gained a strong foundation in teaching classes to beginner to intermediate students. It is perfect for anyone wanting to ease their way into their yoga teaching journey and for those just wanting to explore their personal practice on a deeper level. Students will be certified to teach yoga once the training is complete. Level 1 training is approved with the Yoga Alliance for Continuing Education.
Our Level 2 training is a 200-hour training held over the course of 6 months. It is approved by and registered with the National Yoga Alliance. This course is designed for those wanting to teach yoga, go deeper into their personal practice, and learn more about yogic philosophy and how to incorporate it into classes. Upon completion of the program trainees are eligible to register with the Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour level.
Our Level 3 300-hour Jiivana Yoga® teacher training program is designed for graduates of our (or another accredited) Level 2 200-hour training program. The program builds upon the foundation of the Level 2 training and takes trainees into a deeper study of the training topics. We also explore Thai Yoga Massage and Reiki trainings. Our Level 3 program is registered with the National Yoga Alliance. Upon completion of the program trainees are eligible to receive a 500-hour Jiivana Yoga® Teacher certification.
Will I be able to teach after training?
YES! All levels of training offer certification so you are able to go teach! Many of our graduates teach right after completing our Level 1 certification and others decide to continue their teacher training journey and enroll in the 200-hour certification.
How long must I have practiced yoga before enrolling in a training?
Our Level 1 training is open to students of all levels, including those fairly new to practice (less than one year). For our Level 2 200-hour training we require at least 6 months of consistent practice. Our Level 3300-hour training is open to current yoga teachers and we require at least one year or more of regular teaching.
Can I participate if I have physical limitations?
YES! Yoga is for EVERYbody and you can still participate no matter where you are physically. We only ask that you are willing to explore your personal edge. Training is held in a warm, safe and nurturing environment. This process is designed not only to help you learn how to teach but also to help you grow both on and off the mat.
In order to receive certification trainees must complete all requirements of training, including in-class hours, homework assignments, home practice logs, practice teaching logs and receive a passing grade on both the written and practical examinations. The final practical exam requires an additional day outside of the training schedule. If the proposed dates don’t work with the trainee’s schedule they will be given the option to do all exams on the final scheduled training date.
Trainees have two (2) months after the end of training to complete certification requirements for the Level 1 training. If you are unable to complete within two months you will be given the opportunity to retake the program at a 50% off discounted rate, subject to availability. Students can attend training as a way to deepen their practice only and may opt out of final examinations. Those opting out will not receive a certificate of certification.
Trainees have two (2) years to complete certification requirements for the Level 2 and Level 3 training programs. All tuition balances must be paid in full or there must be an agreed upon payment arrangement in place in order to take advantage of the extended training program.
