Welcome New Students!

We are so glad that you decided to explore yoga with us.  Yoga is a beautiful art designed to connect mind, body, and spirit.  It can be practiced by everyBODY, regardless of age, size or ability.

Yoga helps to build strength and stamina and increases flexibility.  It also helps to offset the negative effects of stress and a busy lifestyle.  We have many class options for you to choose from.  If you are brand new to practice or to our studio we suggest that you start with our Intro to Yoga class.  Students normally stay in this class for 2-3 sessions and then graduate to one of the other classes based on individual needs.

Below please find details on what you need to know about coming to class.  We are always happy to answer any questions you may have.  Please feel free to email us at info@spiritualessenceyoga.com or call us at (301) 574-FLOW(3569).

First Visit

Your first class with us is FREE!  Registration for your first class must be done by emailing your RSVP to info@spiritualessenceyoga.com or calling the studio at (301) 574-FLOW(3569).  The online system isn’t set up for the free classes and you will be prompted for payment.  It is very important to check the class schedule before registering.  It shows the most up to date schedule and reports any cancellations.

Please arrive 5-10 minutes before class to fill out the registration form.  Please let your instructor know if you have any special needs or concerns so that they can be properly addressed.  After your first class your instructor will take about 5-10 minutes to orient you to the studio and answer any questions you may have about classes.

What to Bring

We have all the supplies you need to practice at the studio.  Students are encouraged to bring their own mat if they have one, a small bottle of water, and a hand towel.

What to Wear

Please dress comfortably in slightly fitted clothing. Avoid wearing baggy clothing as it makes checking alignment difficult.

Eating Before Class

Yoga practice is best done on an empty or near-empty stomach. It is advisable to eat no less than 2 hours before class.

How Often to Practice

Yoga offers immediate benefits.  As with any positive life changes, consistency is key.  In order to reap the full benefits of practicing yoga it is advisable to dedicate at least one day a week to come to class.  We have a full class schedule to accommodate your needs and schedule.  We also offer Bodywork services to complement your yoga practice.
