Class Descriptions
Meditative Movements:  In this “in-spiring” class students will learn how to put meditation in motion. Meditation allows one to come back to the center and realign with what is important to all of our individual lives. In this class students will explore the gentler side of yoga asana, how to use props to support practice and breathing techniques. Classes will also have a monthly theme designed to support students both on and off the mat.

Essence Flow 1: Introduces yoga postures and principles designed to build strength, flexibility, openness, and awareness into the body. It also gives an overview of the flow method. Classic yoga postures as well as modifications are introduced to give students many options in the development of a personal practice.

Essence Flow 1/2: Is designed for Flow 1 students who are ready for a deeper challenge and want to ease into Essence Flow 2.  Students are taught intermediate variations on yoga postures learned in Flow 1 and are encouraged to take their practice to the next level.

Essence Flow 2: Builds on previous yoga experience with an emphasis on helping the student develop stamina, strength, and a personal practice. The class refines the student's understanding of fundamental yoga principles and further explores the flow method as well as advanced standing postures.

Essence Slow Hot Flow: Based on Yin Yoga, students will explore a series of yoga asanas designed to loosen up joints and relieve muscle stiffness. The room is heated to warm the muscles, prevent injuries and allow for a deeper release in the body. Open to all levels.

Gentle Flow: Offers a great way to come back to center and gently work out the kinks and stresses of a hectic life. We'll explore gentle flows and focus on the breath and relaxation.

Intro to Yoga: Gives new students an overview of yoga and its history. Yoga poses, breathing techniques and the Vinyasa method are introduced.

Prenatal Yoga: Spiritual Essence Yoga is proud to announce our newest class offering - Prenatal Yoga! This class is appropriate for women in any trimester of pregnancy and any level of yoga practice (including those brand new to yoga).

This class is designed to help alleviate the blessed aches and pains that come along with pregnancy and helps to physically and mentally prepare the mother to be for labor and delivery. This class is also well suited for new moms who want to start incorporating a physical practice into their lives.

Yin Yoga:  Yin yoga helps to open the hips, hamstrings and connective tissue.  Poses are held for 3-5 minutes thus allowing for a deep release and increase in flexibility.  Students will explore asanas designed to promote stillness, clear energy blockages, and increase circulation.

Yoga, Chocolate & Wine Happy Hour:  End the work week right with our Yoga, Chocolate & Happy Hour class.  Offered once a month on the last Friday, participants will be treated to 45 minutes of vinyasa yoga followed by chocolate, wine, and good company!

Yoga Teacher Share: This class is open to new and seasoned yoga teachers and students who want to take their practice to the next level.

We will explore yoga asanas, yogic philosophy and how to live your yoga off the mat. Participants will be given the opportunity to ask questions, share their experiences and more!

YogAbs & Power Flow:  Join us for an hour of intense core strengthening exercises and heat producing, detoxing yoga vinyasas (flows).  We will explore yoga asanas designed to strengthen and tone abdominal muscles and yoga vinyasas that will aid in the detoxification process.

Testimonials

“Before finding Dana and SEY I was curious about yoga but not committed to furthering my knowledge of what was entailed, what could be gained. Spiritual Essence Yoga has opened my eyes to creating and maintaining mind/body/spirit health. From emotional to physical, the power of yoga has been shown to me and I believe the experience at SEY plays a large role in the benefits I have derived from practicing yoga there. From the teachers to the students, it feels like a family, everyone willing to help everyone else, offering advice and tips and support. I have visited other studios, gone to other classes.

I have yet to find (and am definitely not seeking a replacement for) another that gives me the solidly rejuvenating feeling I have after an SEY visit. I feel centered, complete, able. When I feel the worst -- finances, family, relationships, work all taking their toll -- a yoga class at SEY always gives me new perspective. Perhaps it is because I leave feeling that I have been enhanced not only physically, but spiritually and mentally; there is a connection and healing. I look forward to years of the same with SEY as it (undoubtedly) grows.” ~ A. Herndon
